Good Morning Friends!
Yippee-Skippee!! I'm so excited about these new In Colors!! When writing about Crisp Cantaloupe, it doesn't really flow off the fingers easily typing, but I know I'm going to be using it a LOT, especially with this new Strawberry Slushy color that I can't seem to put down.
I admit that pink is probably my favorite color and I had pink in almost every single creation I made my first year as a demo, until my customers whacked me into shape suggested that I branch out a little! {smiles}. Here is today's share:
This is for a fundraiser that is very near and dear to my heart. It became apparent to me (and many others) that there was a DIRE need for a handicapped access ramp at my very old, but very BEAUTIFUL church, St. Michaels in Lowell MA, when two guests of children making first communion had to be carried in and out of the church to be there for their special child's day. I went and spoke with the pastor. I'm able to contribute a little, but felt like I could do more if I hosted a card class!

register at this link. I don't usually do "kits" but long distance packets will be available (with an additional charge if it requires postage) because I really want to do this for my church and help as much as I can.
I know I don't often share my faith here, but it is a HUGE part of my life and the basis of what drives me as a person. So on a personal note, when I moved to Dracut, MA, I first attended a different church that somehow didn't feel like home. St. Michael Church is filled with amazing people that make me feel welcome and part of the experience. It is also one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. I love how following my daughter through the process of making two sacraments this year, unlike when I was a child, the process wasn't scary at all.
If you miss a week, no one judges and it's just a wonderful community in a place I want to be. I would like EVERYONE to have access to this place if that's where they want to be too and I know I could do a lot more to help if I called on the thing I love most: Gathering with friends to stamp and MAKE A DIFFERENCE. So, there you have it. Here are some photos of the place I love so much, and one of my sweet girl from the spring concert. See the window on the right.. There's a framelit in there from Apothecary Accents! Do you see it in the middle in the darker blue with the tab on the top and bottom?
When Alexis sings at church, she sings from that place deep down, can you see her joy? It's a celebration every week. People who sit in front of us, turn around and comment that it's so cool to hear her little voice ring and with such beautiful enthusiasm. I just love it! I hope you can make the event on the 21st of June and if you cannot, just say a little prayer that we raise enough money to make a difference so that everyone can come and share in that joy!
So Let's get back to the little details on this gorgeous card!
Measurements:
Base: Strawberry Slush 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
Layer 2: Crisp Cantaloupe 5 x 3 3/4"
Layer 3: Whisper white 4 7/8" x 3 5/8", embossed with the brand new
Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder
Layer 4: 1 x 5" inch strip of Crisp Cantaloupe embossed with the
Fancy Fan Folder and cut with scissors to make the little banner bottom.
Tip** The easiest way to do that my customers love is, cut about a 1" cut up the middle of the bottom of the banner, then from each of the bottom corners, cut to the tip to make the "V" I'm going to have to get a photo of that for a future post. It's so easy when you see it.
Layer 5: is the cute little butterfly on the top left. I embossed that also with the
Fancy Fan Folder and cut it with the
Bitty Butterfly punch
Layer 6: I dressed my butterfly with one medium self adhesive pearl and two small ones. See how the head of the butterfly is slightly larger?
Layer 7: To make it easier for the class participants, I will precut this layer and probably emboss all the pieces but one (so the newbee's can try embossing). This gorgeous shape comes from
Apothecary Accents Framelits. It's still my favorite set of shapes, but maybe when I get the new goodies I ordered yesterday, all that will change! That layer and layers 2 and 3 will be sponged with the strawberry slushy ink.
Layer 8: is a simple
Vintage Button, with a bit of
White Bakers Twine to finish off the design. It truly is the little details in everything that makes them sweet!
What a great color combination for summer cards! I love all the new in colors, they look like ice cream together! Fresh, new and fun!
So, the stamp set is one of my new favorites because the sayings are so unique and relevant! I love sending a card with a note of encouragement or thanks and I have a feeling this will be one of those "go to" sets for the next year!
