11/15 Stampin' Up! First Christmas & Jewish Celebrations Ornaments ~ 25 Days of Christmas Day 19

Good Evening Friends!

My very good friend Christina came over yesterday.  Christina teaches school at a local catholic school (and I just love her).  When she is here, she makes the studio happy and lights up the room immediately when she arrives.  Christina came over to play to learn how to make the "lollies" with the Designer Rosette Bigz XL die.  She has two students in her class that are Jewish.  She asked if I purchase the Jewish Celebrations set (Of Course I did!).  :)

So here's samples for both the Catholic and Jewish children that we came up with.

The lollies are a snap to put together with hot glue.  I fold the whole thing up like an accordion and hot glue the center first.  When it's almost stuck together, I attach the two sides of the lolly, again with hot glue.  So, I found, when I was using the die, it was almost impossible to cut it straight.  so I cut it first, then put it through the paper cutter to make sure that the strip is all one measurement.  If there is a 1/4" difference from one side to the other, your lolly may come out a little frumpy.  :)

Here is the back of our ornament.  We stamped the star on the back of the glimmer paper (silver) using stazon ink, waited a second for it to dry, then cut the star out.  Isn't it stunning?  The baby Jesus was stamped in stazon and embossed with silver embossing powder.

The strip for the lolly is 1 1/2" (making the lolly 3" across).  and the punch on the back is the 2 1/2" circle punch. 

The Jewish Celebrations Ornament uses all the same products, just different stamps.  I did add some silver dazzling details to the top of the midnight muse ink.  Just adding enough to make it shimmer, so it dried fairly quick. 

I just love the back image of this one.  it also uses the 2 1/2" circle punch.  I also love that every religion is honored. 

I hope you enjoyed this post today.  I used ALL hot glue to stick it together!  I'm loving my hot glue gun (low temperature for paper) lately!  :)

11/13 Stampin Up! Merry and Type ~ 25 Days of Christmas Day 18

Good Evening Friends!

On a personal note, it was a long day.  I spent the morning at various doctor offices.  Turns out I have a hernia that is in need of some repair.  Ugh! So, I started the process today and will be getting a second opinion.  Take no offense doctors, but I do believe they call it a "practice" for a reason!  :)

I'm excited about sharing today's Merry and Type Clean and Simple Christmas card.  I made a pretty bow, and had a few tails coming out of it.  My friends who have been in and around the studio especially loved the mini pearls going across the inside of the ribbon and on the tops of my champagne glimmer trees.  

The coolest thing about this card?  The glimmer paper came from SCRAPS!  I have two other scrap projects.. Use up those little bits of supplies you might have hanging around!

Once again, I started with MY GREEN, Artichoke.  It's really so beautiful and I wish I had 100 more accessories in that color.  I added perfect plum to the peace on earth sentiment, and embossed with the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.

Base: Whisper White 11 x 4 1/4", scored and folded in half at 5 1/2"

Layer 2: Always Artichoke 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"

Layer 3: Whisper white 5 x 3 3/4"

11/12 Stampin' Up! Scentsational Season and More Merry Messages ~ 25 Days of Christmas Day 17

Good Afternoon Friends! 

Sorry that I have been blog ~ slacking!  I have my projects made, it was just a very busy weekend.  I'm back to finish off the 25 day's of Christmas posts, and here is day 17!

My customers will be making this card along with 3 other cards at this weeks' stamp a stack.  

I started with the scentsational season stamp set, and stamped my candy canes in cherry cobbler ink.  I used the coordinating framelits to cut the candy canes out.  I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from More Merry Messages and tied some cherry cobbler seam binding up in a bow.  

This one will be very quick and sweet to make!  I love the 1/2" strip of glimmer paper that goes across the middle.  it makes this card really pop!  :)

Before we get started tonight I'd like to tell you that not only did I enjoy reading the comments left from you about your holiday traditions over the past day, but it makes me want to get to know each of you better.  Thank you so much for taking the time to share with me!  There's no way I could "choose" a winner because all of you shared a small piece of yourself and I found myself hanging on every word.  I did a random number program at Random.org and this is the winner of the blog candy!

My favorite Christmas tradition is making cut out cookies with my daughters and grandchildren. It started when my girls were very young...they are now 35 and 31 and have young children of their own. We put on christmas music using LP albums(!!!) and the favorite one is a Kenny and Dolly album. We still use the old turntable we started with and have a great time. The grandchildren, both boys and girls, have now joined in the fun of both decorating and eating the final results!

So here is today's Christmas project ~ we are on day 16!  Today was an EXCELLENT day.  I had a house full of stampers for scrap booking.  At the end, my friend came over and we continued stamping well after 11pm.  What a great day it was.  My scrappers are asking me to add 2 pages next month so we can do Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's pages.  Their wish is my command!  I'm so thankful to have fun ladies to stamp with.

Sometimes, when you want to add a layer to your card, it's better to just layer your inks, or in this case your embossing!  I LOVE this technique.  So, first, I embossed the green tree direct on to my espresso colored cardstock.  Then I used versamark and white embossing powder and embossed the "Merry Christmas" right on top.  I love how the green and white work together and stay independent of one another.  For this one, I just added a glimmer paper star, and some self adhesive pearls, and yes kids, that's it!  Super fun, super easy and super impressive!  Yea!!!

Stampin' Up! Scrapbooking Merry & Type, Plus, Blog Candy!! ~ 25 Days of Christmas Day 15

Good Morning Friends!

I'm getting so excited about my scrapbook class tomorrow!  There are two sessions and my friends and I will each make two, 2 page layouts.  The cost of the class is $20, and they can take $10 of the class fee and put it towards an order if they wish (minimum $25).  Now that's a deal! 

This is one of the page set's that we will be making.

It's so pretty and RICH in person.  I need to figure out a better way to photograph my scrapbook pages.  The pictures do not do them justice!  There are sparkly snowflakes and a gorgeous element from the Merry & Type stamp set that we will ink up with markers and stamp, then cut with the big shot.

11/7 Watercolor Winter ~ 25 Days of Christmas Day 14

Good Morning Friends!

Today I have another pretty card to share with you.  This one is VERY simple, and one that my local customers will make at next week's Stamp-A-Stack Christmas card class.  When you are stamping a lot of cards, it's important to have a few simple designs up your sleeve.  I think this one is just beautiful!

Measurements:

Base: Always Artichoke Card Stock, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"

Layer 2: Raspberry Ripple Card Stock 3 3/4" x 2 3/4"

Layer 3: Very Vanilla Card Stock 3 5/8" x 2 5/8"

This card also uses some Very Vanilla scraps and a piece of Raspberry Ripple Ribbon, measuring 10" long.

Directions:

1.  On the base layer, use Always artichoke ink and the palm stamp to make a background on the bottom half of your card.

2.  Using Raspberry Ripple and an Always Artichoke Marker, stamp the outline of the holly berry plant on the Very Vanilla cardstock.  Stamp the Seasons Greetings at the same time in Artichoke colored ink.

3.  Stamp the poinsetta on a scrap paper.  

4.  With your Primrose petals and Certainly Celery markers, fill in the holly berries and leaves.

5.  Using an aqua painter and primrose petals ink pad, quickly watercolor the poinsetta flower.  

6.  Add some Daffodil Delight (yellow) ink to the center of the poinsetta flower, and cut the image out. 

7.  use an inch of snail adhesive on either end of the Raspberry Ripple and stick it to the base layer.

8.  Attach the whisper white layer to the raspberry ripple layer, then attach it to the card. 

9.  Add the poinsettia to the card using glue dots to adhere.  Attach it so that the poinsetta breaks the frame of the panel (like in the photo).

10. Add some dazzling details to the holly berries and set the card aside to dry.
