Saturday Sketch Challenge 199

Good Evening Friends!

It's that time for this week's Saturday Sketch challenge.. I made this card three weeks ago and put it in the mail to my good friend Patti....

Normally, when I put a letter in my mailbox, and put up the little flag, the postperson takes my letter and mails it.. I found this one in my mailbox at the beginning of the week, still untouched, so I hope she got it before she reads this post. :D

Measurements:
Base: More mustard 11 x 4 1/4"
layer 2: espresso 5 x 3 3/4"
Layer 3: More Mustard 4 7/8" x 3 5/8"
3a: (a bow made with Lee Conrey's magic bow maker)
Layer 4: 2 3/4" square espresso cardstock (flipped so it looks like a diamond)
Layer 5: 2 5/8" very vanilla, stamped with espresso ink, and sponged with mustard ink
Layer 6: 1 1/4" circle punch espresso
Layer 7: 1" circle punch vanilla

Alexis (my 6 year old) and I made this card together for operator Patti, shortly after she lost her dog. :( We sat down to stamp and Alexis said.. "Mommy, we need to use the paw prints, and that little bone, so that when Patti's dog gets to heaven she knows that he has a bone waiting for him" I almost fell off my chair. So ~ we JUST HAD TO incorporate that bone into the simple sketch.. Maybe I should have made the bone with gold sparkles.. :D

All in all, a work of art has more meaning when it's made for a specific reason, and for that reason I love this clean and simple creation.

We sponged almost all the layers in true Patti Chesky style.. I really hope she knows it was from the heart. I have to say, that the espresso ribbon is GORGEOUS in real life, but I cant seem to get it to photograph properly. Imagine the gorgeous lush color! :D

Please check out what my girlfriends are up to this week over on stamping 411, and stay tuned next week for sketch 200... it's going to be a good one! (hint hint)!

This card is so special Selene, and I love that Alexis had the idea for the bone, too cute! Of course the sponging is the perfect touch to any Patti card :)
