Mojo Monday (on Tuesday) ~ caught in Crystal

Good Morning Friends!

I finally got some of my goodies for the next catalog (coming out on January 4th). I am participating in 4 swaps over the next few weeks, and I thought I should start with a sketch. I love doing sketch challenges! I saw this gorgeous sketch from mojo monday and new I should start right there.

Here are a WHOLE bunch of the new goodies. The paper is from the twitterpatted designer paper, stamps are from the apothecary stamp set, and how about that GORGEOUS new pleated ribbon in pear pizazz? I used the new framelet dies for both of the upper layers.. oh I'm having fun!

The top flowers felt a little bit plain Jane for me, so I pulled out my bottle of crystal effects and painted them.. I sprinkled some dazzling diamonds on with my fingers so they wouldn't get cake~y. Oh this is so pretty in real life I'm not sure the photo does it justice.. Happy Tuesday folks, only a few more days till Christmas!

Saturday Sketch Challenge 146

Another fabulous sketch from the ladies at Stampin411! This week, I decided to play with crystal effects. One of my Most FAVORITE tools in the studio.

So moving right along. First, here's the measurements.

Base: rich Razzeberry 11 x 4 1/4", scored and folded in half at 5 1/2".
Layer 2: Bordering Blue 5 1/8" x 3 7/8" ** note this is 1/8" larger on two sides than layer 3.. don't over think it.. :)
Layer 3: 5 x 3 3/4", then embossed with the big shot using the polkadot embossing folder.
Layer 4 3 1/8" x 4 1/8" and eyelet border punched across the top.
Layer 5: Shimmer white, sponged with razzleberry ink, 3 x 3 3/4"
Layer 6: Embossed and cut out flower from 5th avenue floral stamp set
Layer 7: Celebrate, stamped from Matchbox Messages, and punched with the mini tag from the mini

Other supplies: Whisper white satin ribbon, clear rhinestone brads, paper peircing matte, paper snips, stampin dimensionals, tombo multipurpose glue, crystal effects, blender pens, bordering blue and rich razzleberry ink pads, and versamark.

Now lets talk about this gorgeous, crystal effects, shimmer white cardstock flower!

Here are the directions for my crystal effects flower.

1. I embossed the flower from 5th avenue floral on whisper white cardstock and cut out the image.
2. Use a blender pen to add bordering blue ink (from the ink pad) to the "inside" edges of the flower.
3. Draw a line with the rich razzleberry marker on the inside edges, and lightly spritz the whole thing with water to get the colors to bleed. Let dry.
4. Sponge the outside of the flower with rich razzleberry.
5. stick this to the sponged layer of shimmer white cardstock.
6. Paint a thin layer of crystal effects to seal the top. Walk away and let this dry completely for at least 1 hour.
7. Come back and drop a LOT of crystal effects on the top so you're covering the whole flower and finish assembling your card.

I have been upside down for the last two weeks, with stamping events, and am playing catch up today. (Not that I'm complaining! ~ there are many folks looking for work, and I'm happy that I'm able to work during such unsteady times). This card is for a swap I'm in.

Here is the recipe:

Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers
Ink: Markers, choc chip and Old Olive, Old Olive Ink Pad for use with the texture plates
Paper: Old Olive, Choc chip, Confetti White
Accessories: Sizzix die cut and embossing machine, Top note die, texture plates (with old olive ink on top), embossed with the sizzix and sanded with a sanding block to make the color “pop”, curly label punch, tri flower punch, pretties kit bling brads, removed from the casing with the pliers from the crafters tool kit and crystal effects to adhere.

Party Hearty

Good Morning!

I am a part of the late night stampers demonstrator group. Actually, I'm lucky enough to be chosen as a design team member. This was a color challenge for this week.

This is a super simple card that would be easy to reproduce! :)

Ink: Garden Green, bashful Blue, Not quite navy
Paper: Garden Green, bashful Blue, Not quite navy, Riding hood red
Accessories: crystal effects, paint brush, red bead duos, red riding hood taffeta.

I just love this set, Holiday Line Up! Plus, I feel complelled to color rudolph's nose with crystal effects! I'm just messing around trying to decide on workshop cards for this month.

Stamp A Stack Preview

I'm really excited about the stamp a stack this week at my place on Thursday night and Sunday afternoon. This is one of the projects. Rudolf is sporting a crystal effects nose. I'm just loving it!

I'm not sure if you can see just how BIG that nose is from the photo! But he's got a huge shiner!

Crystal Effects - Ways to use it

Did you know that you can use crystal effects to add a button to your stamped work of art?

First, I used craft ink and clear embossing powder to emboss a pink background on the button.

Then, I tied a piece of pink gingham through the holes and used a daub of crystal effects to glue the button to the front of my baby girl card.
