Good Evening Friends!
Boy did I have fun with this week's 411 sketch! This week operator Gretchen took a turn at the sketch board and I just love her sketch!
I love a play on words, and I sure did make a "GEM" of a button for that panel!
I got the "button panel" from some DSP from the occasions mini. I love how plain the buttons are on the panel and thought that I needed to make a special button to fill in the one that's missing. :D
I started with a melon mambo button, and a fabric colored brad that matches. I put the brad through the holes in the button. Then I made a faux bow.
I just folded the ribbon over itself on the ends, and tied it up with some thread in the middle. Then I closed the brad in the back of the pink button, and attached it to the bow by slipping the metal brad edge under the linen thread.
Next I took some self adhesive JEWELS and attached a string all the way around the seam of the two buttons. I added one more to the center of the blue fabric button on top.
Here's a closeup of that button. Isn't she purrrty?
Finally ~ I stamped the sentiment "you're a gem" on the card and ran a ribbon all the way around, making the seam go under the panel on the right. So when you open the card, you see the ribbon inside. :D
So how about some measurements?
Base: Melon Mambo 11 x 4 1/4", scored and folded in half at 5 1/2"
Layer 2: Daffodil delight 5 3/8" x 2"
Layer 3: DSP 5 1/4" 1 7/8
Not too many layers, but a whole LOT of fun with that focal point! I just love this mini catalog!
So ~ what do you think? I hope you like it AND I hope that I've inspired you to check out stamping411 to see what the other operators are up to and maybe to play along with our simple sketch!
Rubbah hugs,
Selene Kempton
