4/14 Stampin' Up! More Merry Messages & Fresh Prints, Mojo Monday

Good Afternoon Friends!

I am so happy to have the door open with the screen in the storm door today.  73 Degrees in Dracut, MA feels GREAT!  It's very windy... Alexis said she thinks it's the start of a tornado. Thank goodness we haven't seen any.  ;-)

It might sound funny to be making Christmas Cards in April, but today that's exactly what I'm doing!  By request, I've added a Christmas Card Series of classes to the roster.  At this class we will make 12 cards (with envelopes) for $25 monthly for three months starting on April 25th and continuing through May 22nd and finally June 20th.  Come summertime I'll re-evaluate if we all want to keep going, but imagine having 36 cards done for Christmas before July!  :)  Woohoo!  The inspiration for today's design came from the mojo master of sketches Julee.  I just love playing with her fun designs.  What do you think of my card?

I hear over and over from some select stamping friends, that when they come to classes, they NEVER actually give the cards away.  You'll be making 3 of each design, or one to keep and two to mail!

Here's a quick supply list if you're looking to make your own.

Stamps: More Merry Messages Stamp Set from Stampin Up
Ink: Cherry Cobbler Marker
Paper: Fresh Prints Designer Paper, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Champagne Glimmer Paper.
Accessories: Polka Dot embossing folder, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 3/4" scalloped circle punch, paper snips, dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding

Oh What Fun Indeed!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Please make it a great week!

4/7 Stampin' Up! Pomp & Circumstance feat. Retro Fresh Designer Paper, Graduation Card

Good Evening Friends,

Here's a sweet card that I made for my hubby's cousin Sammy, who just graduated from college... So, we got the most beautiful invitation, and I fully intended to attend, and SPACED IT!!!  It was awesome to see the pictures on FB of the party we missed!  Gheesh!!  I'm in direct sales!!  I know that people don't respond/dont show/space out but, I get so mad at myself when I do it, ya know?

So, here's the card for Samantha!  It's so pretty!!  I got the layout from the cool sketch site, Mojo Monday!  Julie is truly a mojo master and I love playing along with her sketches.  So, check it out!

1.  I started with the retro fresh arrow design, and cut the DSP to 3x4".  I cut layer below that out of baked brown sugar cardstock to 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" and stuck them together with snail adhesive.

2.  Next I tied a bow from the 7/16" natural trim ribbon. (which happens to be a weekly deal this week and is on sale through tonight, Monday night.

3.  I punched a 1 3/4" circle of the flip side of the arrows (the tangerine colored circle) then punched another circle to follow the sketch out of a coordinating pattern.

4.  The pomp and circumstance sentiment is stamped on a 1 1/4", then I cut a banner in the end.  Added the CELEBRATE in tangerine tango, and sponged the whole thing in baked brown sugar.

5.  I stamped the graduation cap on some Coastal Cabana card stock and cut it out with my paper snips.

I attached this to the bottom 3 layers.  The base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", and is scored at 4 1/4". Layer 2 is baked brown sugar 5 1/8" x 3 7/8".  The third layer, which was embossed with the chevron embossing folder, and measures 5 x 3 3/4".

So, I'll have to put a nice little gift inside this one, yes?  What a space cadet!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

4/5 Stampin' Up! Embellished Events, Multi-Marker, Birthday Card

Good Morning Friends!

I'm so grateful that the weather is getting a big better.  It's rainy and in the 40's this morning, but it's better than snow!  I love to think about the rain being the thing to make the flowers grow and bring the colors of summer all around us outside!

Well, that was a deep thought!  Enough!  Let's have some fun!  This card is super sweet and fun to make and the elements just make me happy!

For the focal point.  Notice that it's crooked on my card?  After all that marker work, I didn't want to re-stamp my image on the back, so I went with it, and just applied the cake straight, so that the panel was crooked.  Your eye might not have picked it up at first glance if I didn't point it out, but that's one of the beautiful things about stamping. There are no real mistakes, just embellishment opportunities!  I just love how all the elements of this card came together.  It's so girlie and fun, but soft at the same time!  Woohoo!
I started with a blushing bride base layer, cut to 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, and scored in half at 4 1/4".  The second layer is smokey slate 5 1/8 x 3 7/8".

For Layer 3, it's a 1/4" smaller, so 4 7/8 x 3 5/8.  We stamped the celebrate using a raspberry ripple marker, let it dry for a few seconds and then embossed this panel with the fancy fan embossing folder.  It's a really cool concept that you don't have to add another layer for your sentiment when you emboss, you just need to stamp before you emboss!

Next, I added some of the Birthday Basics designer paper.  This paper is probably going to be one of the things retiring soon. It uses 3 of the in colors that are scheduled to retire in a month or so.  The full retirement list is due out around the 24th of April, but this cute paper with the candles I'm sure is on the list.  :)  If you wait until they announce it, it seems the incolor items disappear within hours!  Make sure you snag yours before the list comes out!

The designer paper is cut to 3 5/8" x 2, and the smokey slate layer underneath is 3 5/8" x 2 3/8"  it's a little bigger than a  quarter inch to leave room for the Scalloped Edge Border Punch

Moving right along to our focal point. When I ink with markers, I always start with the lightest colors first.  So that I don't add the dark blue, then accidentally run a lighter color through the ink (which picks up the darker color in my light marker)  Making sense?  :)  I started with blushing bride, and added that color to the bottom and the middle where the flowers are, and the one candle in the middle.  Then I grabbed my Summer Starfruit marker and added color to the inside of the flowers, and the flames on the tlp of the candle. Smokey slate was next for the two candles and the top panel of the cake.  Finally, I added the bermuda bay, to the diamond pattern.

By the time I added all my colors the first color starts to dry on my stamp a bit.  So, I give it a huff ~ like I am cleaning a pair of eye glasses.  This re-moistens the ink and makes a cool lush stamp onto my cardstock, which I remind you, I stamped crooked!  That's why I kept it!  {smiles} I added dimensionals to the layer with the cake, so it wouldn't interfere with the pretty bow i tied on.  I hope this ribbon. 5/8" Crochet Trim doesn't retire.  I seem to use it on EVERYTHING.  I buy 10 rolls, and use it for everything... classes, and club, and next thing you know I'm out and buy 10 more.  I think it's my favorite!

I think that about covers today's inspiration!  I hope you're inspired to have some fun and make a card or a scrapbook page, or a 3D.. The possibilities are endless!  Thanks so much for visiting today!

4/4 Stampin Up! Birthday, You're my hero, Typset Alphabet Bigz

Good Morning Stampers!

I was so bummed out I had to miss my nephew's third birthday party, which was held last night while I was working.

I made these cards yesterday to go with the gifts from my hubby and I, and my daughter (who needed her own card).

Can you guess which one she wanted to be from her??

I was so inspired by the happy birthday tissue paper I picked up at the dollar store. I thought it looked like Stampin' Up! colors.   Whoa, it's a pretty exact match!

So much fun, and these went together in a snap!  The colors are Real Red, Daffodil, Gumball Green and Pacific Point!  I cut them down to 1 x 3 5/8" and attached them to a piece of cardstock that is 5 1/8" x 3 3/4".  Then I ran them through the big shot with the ever so sweet Alphabet Press Embossing folder.  It took literally two minutes to finish it from there.  I located my Typeset Alphabet dies, and ripped off a piece of real red scrap to cut out the number 3, and matted it with whisper white cardstock.  I love how the ribbon goes through the white on white layers. (it's the little things).

At 1 1/4" tall, the letters from the Typeset Alphabet can be used easily for both scrapbooking and card making!  So versatile!  After I was done making my blinged out 3 (i just used some self adhesive rhinestones).  Then I decided to make a second card with his favorite, a fire engine!
Happy Birthday John!!  A super blinged out ride for his birthday!  This truck comes complete, with basic black buttons (medium) and rhinestone rims.  (well, maybe those are for me).

The You're My Hero Stamp Set, comes complete with a fire engine, an ambulance and police car!  There's Happy Birthday, You're My Hero, and ( my favorite) Weeooooo-weeeeeooooo.  Yeah buddy, isn't it sweet?

This is a super cute layout that could be recreated for any occasion, just change the paper to a designer paper, or simply change the colors!  The possibilities are endless.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!
