Hangin' with the Paper Players

Good Evening Friends!

There's something about this designer paper from the Sale A Bration Catalog, Everyday Enchantment, that makes me want to embellish, embellish, and keep adding layers!

I had fun playing with the paper players last week, and thought that I'd play along with their latest challenge, a color challenge.

The colors they challenge you to work with are: Poppy, Pool Party, Vanilla, and Soft Suede.

Most times, I use less colors, but it really fits well with this designer paper!

I started with the 3 layers in the middle.  I cut the pool party to 5 x 3 3/4", the suede was an 1/8 in smaller so 4 7/8" x 3 5/8"  and the Designer paper was 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" .  Then I put them on my big shot and cut the line for the middle of the card all at the same time.  That line was cut with the super cool Edgelit Dies, Adorning Accents from stampin up.  I like to run them through together, so they line up nicely.  I attached these 3 pieces together with snail adhesive and set them aside.

Next, I grabbed my base.  I went back and forth on this, and cut about 4 pieces of paper different ways before deciding on Poppy Parade for the base.  I put the embossing folder (adorning accents) at the bottom of my card, then lined up the layers that would sit on top to make sure my embossed border would line up in the right place.  Then I slipped the extra 3 layers out, and ran it through my big shot to get that pretty line.

I grabbed my "hello" from a stamp set I haven't inked up yet.  My friend Gina ended up with two of these stamp sets by accident and gave me one.  (how lucky am I??)  Elementary Elegance, is more of a vintage set and it's way out of my normal comfort zone.  (I lean towards clean and simple).  But it's pretty fun to work with !  I'm not sure if you can see it, but right above "hello" I stamped a little bird from the set with versamark.  It adds a little subtle detail.

Next, I inked up another set that I haven't been able to play with, Mixed Bunch and stamped the cute flower medallion.  It has a coordinating punch, called Blossom Punch so I just punched a poppy colored flower, and my stamped image out of the paper.  Then I crumpled them up.. Yes, I rolled them in a ball and unrolled them.  :D  I added some soft suede ink to the outside of the petals and poked a hole with my mat pack and piercing tool and put the brad through.  The brad is one of the Sale-A-Bration rewards also!  (who doesn't love free stuff?)

Finally I spritzed the whole front of my card, and I over did it by a pinch.  A little bit goes a long way, and I just got excited.  (what can I say?)

Well, i have a house full of stamping friends arriving in just under a half hour, so I need to "step away from the laptop!"  :)

Rubbah hugs,
Selene
